I was born in Gävle, Sweden, in 1961, and brought up in a small village nearby. For the first 9 years after school I worked with many different things, before I decided that bodywork was what I wanted to focus on. 1986 I completed a diploma course in massage, and at the same time I started training in Bodyharmony and Rebirthing (breathing therapy).I ran a full time bodywork practise in Gothenburg for the next 8 years, taking a year out in 1990 to do a training in physical theatre and body poetry at Larssons theatre Academy in Gothenburg. In 1994 I moved to Maidstone in Kent, to start a 4 year full time training in Osteopathy, including undergraduate studies in Cranial Osteopathy, at the European school of Osteopathy. I graduated in 1998 with a BSc (Hons) in Osteopathy. Between 1998 and 2000 I worked with Mark Young DO. at Ripon Natural Health Centre in North Yorkshire, before moving to Forres in September 2000, and starting Forres Osteopathic Clinic. For the first 3 years Forres Osteopathic clinic was located at Vaila, Sheriffbrae, before moving into specially converted premises at Beeches Cottage, Iowa Place in October 2003. My own healing experience In 1995, during my second year of Osteopathic training, I became ill, primarily with M.E (chronic fatigue), caused by stress, candida overgrowth, food allergies, recurrent bacterial, viral and parasitic infections and a dysfunctional immune system. At the time I received a lot of valuable help in the form of osteopathic treatment from teachers and fellow students at the school. I was also very fortunate to get in touch with a kinesiologist who was able to help me recover my health. After I graduated as an Osteopath in 1998, as well as post graduate trainings in Cranial Osteopathy, I also started training in Applied Kinesiology, wanting to offer my patients the same opportunities to recover from crippling health problems as I had. It is now a main tool in my practise and the training is ongoing. I am really pleased with the combination of Osteopathy, Cranial Osteopathy and Applied Kinesiology, as it gives the opportunity to effectively treat many aspects of a person’s health, in particular the structural integrity and balance of the body but also the biochemistry, which when it is not functioning well is often an underlying cause of chronic or recurrent musculoskeletal problems, as well as many other symptoms. It is my experience that the body is not a closed system, but an open one, and is influenced by everything in life, from our thoughts, attitudes and emotions to the environment, our diet, life-style and inherited constitution. As a part of the treatment these areas might also need consideration. I also believe that greater awareness can lead to better health. Developing this awareness of what is happening inside our bodies, what we are feeling and needing, often takes time and patience. I am interested in a collaborative relationship, working with my patients to find an approach that suits each individual and their situation. I will refer to another practitioner or to the patient’s G.P. if I consider another approach more suitable. |
